Delegates from Guatemala visit the International Criminal Court in The Hague

The President of the External Relations Commission of the Guatemalan Congress, Mr Antonio Arenales Forno, and Mr Alfonso Roberto José Matta  Fahsen, Ambassador of Guatemala in The Netherlands visited the International Criminal Court on Wednesday, 3 August 2005. Mr Arenales Forno and Mr Matta Fahsen met separately for talks with representatives of Chambers, the Office of the Prosecutor and Registry.

Mr Arenales Forno informed the ICC about the progress of ratification of the Rome Statute in Guatemala. The delegates exchanged views with ICC officials on how to implement legislation at the national level in order to allow Guatemala to cooperate with the Court.
